Director of Research in Surgical Care Delivery

The Department of Surgery at Mass General Brigham is seeking an exceptional academic leader to serve as the Kessler Director of the Center for Surgery and Public Health (CSPH) and Director of Research in Surgical Care Delivery. This position is expected to be at the Associate Professor or Professor level at Harvard Medical School.

Founded as a joint initiative between Harvard Medical School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the Center for Surgery and Public Health is an internationally recognized leader in surgical health services research, outcomes science, implementation science, and healthcare delivery innovation. The Kessler Director will provide strategic, scientific, and operational leadership for a multidisciplinary research enterprise dedicated to advancing surgical quality, patient safety, health equity, value-based care, and patient-centered outcomes.

The successful candidate will have an established national or international reputation in surgical outcomes research, health services research, implementation science, healthcare delivery science, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate a sustained record of peer-reviewed scholarship, successful extramural funding, and leadership of multidisciplinary research programs. A strong commitment to mentorship, faculty development, collaboration, and advancing innovative research that improves healthcare delivery is essential.

The Director will oversee the Center's research infrastructure, educational programs, faculty development initiatives, and strategic growth while fostering collaborations across Mass General Brigham, Harvard Medical School, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and external partners. The successful candidate will play a central role in advancing the Department of Surgery's research mission and strengthening CSPH's national and international leadership in health services and surgical care delivery research.
