The Division of Transplant Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s
Hospital is seeking an academic Transplant Surgeon to join the faculty at an
Instructor/Assistant or Associate Professor level.


The successful candidate will have an MD or equivalent, be Board eligible or Board certified in
Surgery, have completed a fellowship training program at an ASTS-certified transplant surgery
training program, and be eligible for a Massachusetts Medical License.


This position is for a kidney/pancreas transplant surgeon with dedicated time spent in basic/
translational research. The candidate should possess strong clinical expertise in kidney and
pancreas transplantation, minimally invasive living donor nephrectomies and proficiency in
multi-organ deceased donor organ procurement. Expertise in robotic surgery is a plus. The
candidate is also expected to perform general and vascular access surgeries and should be
committed to excellence in quality and patient safety. The Division has a research focus on
transplant immunology, immunosenescence, organ reconditioning and rejuvenation. Research
will be an integral part of the position. The candidate is expected to successfully seek funding
and establish an independent transplantation research portfolio. A robust infrastructure will be
available for research support. There will also be an opportunity for transplant-related health
services research at the Center for Surgery and Public Health. Basic science research efforts will
be supported through the Transplant Surgery Research Laboratory. The candidate will also have
an active role in the education and teaching of medical students and residents.
